Senior Legal Counsel

Our client is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel in Shanghai. This position is reporting to China Legal Head, the purpose is to to provide advices on corporate and business related legal matters and ensure that company takes contractual and legal commitments with acceptable levels of risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• In this role the Legal Counsel will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage issues within areas of expertise
• Working closely with commercial and operation team to provide the legal support such as business partner
• Provide legal support to sales and tender teams on tender activities, including contract drafting, reviewing and negotiation
• Provide legal support to project teams on claim management, dispute settlement and other legal issues arising during the course of performing the contracts
• Provide support on IP issues, including technology license and transfer programs
• Provide legal advice on Chinese law and Chinese regulatory matters
• Serve as the contact point for coordinating and cooperating with external advisors and internal customers cooperation on international and local projects of different character
• Development and delivery of legal training to other functions and joint ventures

Key Requirements:

• Legal education background, LL.B or above from a recognized accredited institution
• Qualification to practice law in China
• Business qualification is a plus
• Experience of at least 5 years (PQE) in business and contract law. Good background in corporate law
• Relevant experience with a multi-national corporation or law firm in China
• Previous exposure to international practice through studies or work experience is a plus
• A pro-active and self-motivated lawyer with strong team-working spirit, good interpersonal and communication skills, good adaptability and time management skills
• With high integrity and a sound understanding of western mindset and approach. Aware and appreciative of culture differences
• Fluency in written and spoken English
