The Head of China, is a pivotal role responsible for the identification, design and execution of new commercial initiatives and the development of key global strategic relationships with a focused range of strategic partners, including C-suite, regulatory bodies, and associations, to support the execution of the vision, strategy, and revenue growth. This role plays a critical part in ensuring commercial and strategic alignment between Strategy, Product, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations internally to ensure that as a business we are focused on the areas of highest potential for both current and future initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creates a structure and framework to understand the opportunities and threats in the China market. Uses resources from across the business to analyse and research markets and bring understanding to the Executive team, commercial strategy teams and the wider business on trends, competitor intelligence, business models and new market opportunities taking a global and domestic view of the Chinese chemical, energy, and sustainability sectors
- Co-ordinates and agrees with Director of Strategy and Executive Team the strategic business priorities and long-term strategy for China and locally support the operational plan to deliver customer value to Chinese customers whilst ensuring alignment with the wider business
- Continually assesses the business portfolio in terms of changing market requirements and works with local commercial teams and the Executive Team to identify and maintain relationships with benchmark opportunities, partners, government, and industry alliances which accelerate strategy execution and capitalise on new revenue streams
- Work with central Government and Regulatory affairs and other businesses units across the group to build and grow key relationships, influence and to accelerate commercial execution and influence strategy with a deep understanding of industry trends and changes. Provide advice to Executive team and wider business on threats and opportunities and instigate projects which mitigate or capture these threats or opportunities
- With the Commercial Strategy and Pricing teams, identifies opportunities for additional value capture and the development of the pricing and packaging strategy for the local market
- Regularly monitors the trading positions of the products/services and in conjunction with management teams’ takes action to ensure resource is focused on the place of most potential and to ensure cost, revenue, profit, and margin goals are delivered
- Coordinates with Sales, Product, Marketing and CEO on commercial market focus, positioning, and execution to exceed revenue and new sales objectives
- Sets an agenda to constantly challenge process/resource efficiency and extraction of market opportunity
Key Requirements:
- Excellent in English speaking and cross culture communication with the experience in working in global MNC company with matrix organization structure
- Extensive executive level experience in strategic planning & execution with the ability to drive results in a matrix environment within the chemicals or energy sector
- Ability to set a commercial and strategic vision and align cross-functional teams behind the execution of that vision
- Demonstrated leadership ability to drive high performance and influence culture and outcomes with experience in analytical and metric thinking
- Extensive experience of creating and executing on Commercial Partnerships, M&A and detailed commercial negotiations
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence people at all levels across all disciplines to ensure successful outcomes (both internally and externally)
- Must have the working experience in China
