This role will lead the Chinese subsidiary HR function in a growing and dynamic international (American headquartered) organization. It will require someone with solid contemporary HR skills, coupled with the ability to adapt to the needs and strategic direction of the business. The incumbent will be successful when combining relationships built on trust and influence, with the willingness to embrace Trek’s modern western approach. Flexibility to new ways of working will be key in this role. The HR maturity and receptivity levels of the business / key stakeholders will also need to be understood and considered versus what might otherwise be ‘best practice’ HR. The HR Manager will work closely with the China Country Manager, APAC HR Director and be an integral member of both the APAC HR Team as well as local China leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the local China entity HR requirements, culture, business challenges, strategy, vision and changes internationally and locally, including being a conduit between the local business and globally
  • Partner and execute full scope of Global, APAC and China HR initiatives and programs
  • Facilitate, influence and deliver positive changes and strategic business initiatives
  • Develop strong credibility and trust with all stakeholders of the business from entry level employees to the country manager
  • Long term strategic mindset and vision coupled with the willingness to be involved in day to day transactional or operational business requirements
  • Mentorship, guidance and leadership to HR department team members
  • Management of payroll including liaising with payroll vendor as required
  • Leadership coaching and development of China leadership team including the Country Manager
  • Analysis of employee surveys to design and develop solutions which bolster employee engagement and retention
  • Provide guidance, interpretation and execute to ensure compliance to local laws and regulations
  • Design and facilitate local training and development programs
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Oversee and responsibility for recruitment strategy for retail and wholesale talent acquisition
  • Review, develop and implement HR policies, procedures and processes
  • Management of HRIS – Workday, including inputs to the international project team on the integration and roll out of Workday globally (including the Chinese entity)

Key Requirements:

  • Experience as a HR Manager or Business Partner in an international organization for a minimum 3 years
  • Minimum 5 years HR generalist experience
  • Broad scope generalist HR experience across full scope including in remuneration and benefits, performance management and reward, labour law, payroll, organizational development and change management, talent attraction and acquisition, employee engagement and retention, learning and development
  • Bilingual English/Chinese written and verbal skills
  • Engagement with local and multi-national recruitment/employment agencies

Desirable Experience (not essential):

  • Experience or knowledge of the Chinese retail environment
  • Stand-alone HR role interaction with a global organization
  • Engagement and employee surveys such as ‘great place to work’ including analytics
  • HRIS Management, international project team membership, roll out and integration
