Insights Manager is a new role within the Database Syndicated Research team, reporting to the Head of Practice/Industry Research and working especially closely with Global Leads and Industry Managers. The role meets the growing demand for client service from database industry and sector experts. The Insights Manager is a client facing research role where more than half of time is spent engaged in or preparing for client facing activity.

Key Requirements:

  • Responsibilities can be described as 50% content and 50% client as follows:
    • Content:
      • Create global market insights for own content and in the work of others, employing the knowledge of the research network, data, and Analytics. Create content by not just collating information, but rather using data and information as a foundation for opinionated, forward-looking and compelling insights meant to build value for the client in their database subscriptions and services
      • Deliver high quality, expert strategic content, with both global scope and regional expertise, actionable for an engaged client base at local, regional and global levels
      • Build content demonstrating subject and geographic expertise, purposefully targeted to commercial and editorial needs and to maximise research/commercial returns
      • Serve as a leader and mentor for the work of others via editorial organisation, co-authoring, and editing
      • Minimum content metrics: three strategic pieces plus at least one piece of templatised content per year
    • Research:
      • Deliver high quality global and regional research on select industries in support of targeted database industry systems
      • Demonstrate skills in working with published industry statistics and the company’s analytical tools (where available) to enhance inputs from the database research organisation
      • Proactively build a knowledge base through access of internal research, external publications and interactions with client-facing teams and clients/industry bodies
      • Build client partnerships to the benefit of the wider research organization through initiatives like Structured Client Engagement. Seek the development of virtuous circle relationships through all industry interactions
      • Promote and maintain a research agenda around all activities/engagements and build knowledge as part of a continuous wheel of dialogue with the industry
      • Collaborate with Global Leads, Industry Managers, Project Managers, and the research network to strengthen research results with direct client feedback and information
    • Commercial
      • Identify/target focus client accounts based on commercial need and business priorities
      • Operate from a client first mentality, using expertise to fulfil client needs
      • Utilise industry and geographic expertise to help attract, win and retain business
      • Build and establish an internal profile through close collaboration with global sales and account management teams, coordinating around client needs and priorities with a collective goal of new business and renewals
    • Consulting support:
      • Assist in fulfilling client needs through the entire custom research lifecycle, from discovery through delivery
      • Maintain awareness of and involvement in Consulting opportunities, leveraging these to identify emerging topics of interest for clients
      • Lend expertise to client and Consulting Business Development, helping to shape, sharpen, and guide the proposal process to successfully win business
      • Stay aware and involved as subject experts with CG Research, offering feedback to ensure high-quality bespoke products that satisfy or exceed client expectations

Key Requirements:

  • High level of numeracy and analytical capabilities
  • Solid experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Ability to identify and build evidence-based thought that adds value to information solutions and meets the strategic needs of clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – this is a writing-intensive position with strategic analysis as the core of all content
  • Solid commercial acumen, presentation, and client management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and trust within and between functions, across the full syndicated research team, consulting research and sales
